First Place: Social Media Storytelling by Society of Professional Journalists

I won first place for my “In Your Neighborhood: What’s Happening This Weekend in San Diego” Instagram Reels, a recurring series produced for NBC 7 San Diego that highlights local events and community happenings across the region.

Second Place: News Feature Pre-Produced given by the San Diego Press Club

This award-winning piece is about a beloved pizza shop in Carlsbad, which was revived by four friends.

“We decided we wanted to keep it open. It’s a really important part of the community. I know there’s a big, thriving downtown area in Carlsbad, but this is a place where a lot of locals grew up, and they know this place,” said John Chavez, one of the four friends who reopened the shop.
